Chase Gormley vs. Brandon Sayles completes Friday's XFC 16 event
Two-time UFC veteran Chase Gormley (7-4) has agreed to fill the final open slot on Friday's XFC 16 event and now meets Brandon Sayles (2-0) in a super heavyweight contest.The two meet on the main card of the Xtreme Fighting Championships' event.
Featuring a lightweight bout between former WEC champ Jamie Varner and UFC veteran Drew Fickett, "XFC 16: High Stakes," takes place Feb. 10 at Knoxville Civic Auditorium-Coliseum in Tennessee. The main card airs live on HDNet.
Gormley seeks his first win since May 2010. The Californian is best known for a two-fight octagon stint that featured losses to Brendan Schaub and Stefan Struve. He's since gone 1-2 on the regional scene, defeating Ryan Fortin in his first post-UFC fight before losing to Beau Tribolet and Mike Whitehead.
Meanwhile, Sayles looks to remain undefeated in his third career bout. An Army Combatives champ, Sayles debuted in January 2010 with a first-round TKO over Arnold Adams before returning with a first-round submission victory over Imani Lee at this past December's XFC 15 fight card.
