Melvin Guillard

Melvin Guillard may have hit a rough patch in his career, but that doesn't take away from the fact that he has some serious power in his hands.
"The Young Assassin" has a career full of knockouts with 19 of his 29 wins coming via KO.
Before dropping his last two bouts, Guillard had won five straight, with three of them coming by way of KO. By training with "The Blackzillians", Guillard will likely return to his high-octane style we saw before his move to Greg Jackson's.

Jose Aldo is not only one of the most explosive strikers in MMA, he's also one of the heaviest-hitting fighters too.
Capable of ending the fight at any moment with a variety of strikes, Aldo has made being the UFC featherweight champion look easy after running through his past challengers.
If Aldo isn't knocking his opponents out, he's usually chopping away at their legs with some quick and powerful Muay-Thai style kicks.
Aldo was able to stifle Chad Mendes' takedown attempts and managed to end the bout in the final seconds with a huge knee to the head.

UFC Nate Diaz
On Monday, the world’s premier mixed martial arts promotion announced their third show on FOX will feature four live main card fights. A thrilling lightweight affair between Nate Diaz (Pictured) and Jim Miller headlines the May 5th festivities.
The event takes place inside IZOD Center in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
Many thought the 170-pound shootout with Josh Koscheck and Johny Hendricks would serve as the co-featured attraction, but it appears heavyweights Pat Barry and Lavar Johnson will get second-to-top billing.
“For our third card on FOX, we have four great fights!” UFC president Dana White said. “Nate Diaz versus Jim Miller is the five-round main event and the winner will put himself in a position to fight for the title. Both of these guys fight at an incredible pace and are coming off great wins.
“We’ve got an amazing heavyweight fight between knockout artists Pat Barry and Lavar Johnson, as well as welterweight title contender fight between Josh Koscheck and Johny Hendricks. Johny just knocked out Koscheck’s training partner, Jon Fitch, and wants a title shot. To do it, he’s gotta get past Koscheck, who’s one of the best 170-pounders in the world. If that wasn’t enough, submission specialist Rousimar Palhares meets Alan Belcher in an exciting middleweight fight.”
FOX will broadcast the main card live beginning at 8PM ET/5PM PT.
Here is the show’s current roster:

Nick Diaz Temporarily Suspended Until Disciplinary Hearing Later This Year

Century MMA Free Shipping Over $100

Nick Diaz UFC 129
The Nevada State Athletic Commission on Wednesday levied a temporary suspension against Nick Diaz after he tested positive for marijuana for his fight with Carlos Condit at UFC 143.

The commission voted unanimously to place Diaz under a temporary suspension until a disciplinary hearing could be held later this year. The hearing will most likely take place in April. The commission will then decide Diaz’s ultimate fate.

The commissioners did ask for some additional information to be provided at the next meeting where Diaz’s discipline will be handed down. The commission requested any and all information surrounding Diaz’s previous suspension in the state from his fight in February 2007, when he also tested positive for marijuana after his fight with Takanori Gomi in Pride. Diaz was suspended for six months and his fight was ruled a no contest.

They also requested any information on his full fight purse and any bonuses paid out to him, as well as his full application that was submitted prior to the fight.

The commissioners also mentioned that Diaz is licensed for medicinal marijuana use in the state of California. They stated they would have additional research regarding that matter when they reconvene later this year for the hearing.

For now, Diaz is simply suspended until the commission meets to decide his final fate. Based on past occurrences of a similar nature where a fighter has tested positive for marijuana a second time in the state, a one-year suspension was handed down.

Diaz will meet with the commission most likely in April to find out exactly what their ruling will be.

SLAM IN JAMIN

As a young fighter in PRIDE, former light heavyweight champion Quinton Jackson developed a reputation for dishing out damage with an arsenal of brutal slams, none more infamous than his power-bomb finish of Ricardo Arona.

However, when it came to his bout against Ryan Bader this past weekend at UFC 144, few believed Jackson could channel the “Rampage” of old and wow the Japanese fans with another highlight reel slam given Bader’s accomplishments as an amateur wrestler.

Midway through the second round Jackson proved his critics wrong, scooping Bader up against the fence and slamming him down face-first to the mat. While Bader never lost consciousness the impact clearly injured him, something he openly admitted to in an interview with the UFC shortly after making his way backstage.

“I knew he was waiting for something," said Bader. "Because he was a little too relaxed right there with his head. He was just waiting for me to knee the head and he caught my leg. He’s a strong dude so he picked me up and slammed me right on my head, and I was out of it, honestly, for a little bit. But I recovered and that’s what it’s about, just staying in there and battling, and that’s what happened.”
“This is my favorite win of all time. Coming in and winning the Ultimate Fighter, it’s not really in the UFC. You start over right when you get in the UFC. That’s what I learned, real quick. I had a couple of losses last year. Starting this year off right so getting a win over “Rampage”…he just fought for the title, Top 5 in the division…so I couldn’t have asked for more.”
