A nasty armbar submission courtesy of new Strikeforce champion Ronda Rousey has landed former title holder Miesha Tate on indefinite suspension from the Ohio Athletic Commission.
As the fight came to a close, Tate’s arm literally bent around backwards while Rousey was trying to force the submission.

Now according to the Ohio Athletic Commission, Tate will be under indefinite suspension until she gets clearance from an orthopedist on her left arm.

A few other fighters including Ronaldo ‘Jacare’ Souza also fell under indefinite suspensions following the event. Souza told MMAWeekly.com on Saturday that he believed his hand was broken, and he’ll have to get doctor’s clearance before heading back to the cage later this year.

Here are the full medical suspensions for Strikeforce: Tate vs Rousey

- Miesha Tate suspended indefinitely until cleared by orthopedist for left arm injury

- Kazuo Misaki suspended 45 days for stitches

Antonio Silva Debuts With UFC in May, Meets Roy Nelson at UFC 146

Heavyweights scheduled for May 26 fight in Las Vegas

Heavyweights, indeed. A bout between two famously big men has been added to the UFC's Memorial Day weekend card in Las Vegas.

Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva and Roy "Big Country" Nelson have agreed to fight on the May 26 card in Nelson's home city. UFC officials announced the fight booking on Wednesday.

UFC 146 will take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena and features a main event heavyweight title fight between champion Junior dos Santos and top contender Alistair Overeem, the former Strikeforce heavyweight champ.

Silva (16-3) will be making his UFC debut after a five-fight run in Strikeforce, where he went 3-2. Most notably, Silva stopped the legendary Fedor Emelianenko last February in the opening round of Strikeforce's heavyweight grand prix tournament, earning a doctor's stoppage after two rounds in one of the year's biggest upsets. That win was the third straight for "Bigfoot" in the promotion after wins over former UFC heavyweight champ Andrei Arlovski and a Mike Kyle.

But in the semifinals of the heavyweight tournament in September, Silva faced alternate Daniel Cormier, who was stepping in for Overeem. In the first round, Cormier dropped Silva, who had a big height and reach advantage, and finished him with strikes on the ground. In January, Silva announced that he had signed a contract with the UFC, which had slowly been bringing over Strikeforce's heavyweight fighters in anticipation of dissolving the weight class in that promotion.

Nelson (16-7, 3-3 UFC) has had a rough go of it since starting his UFC career 2-0, including a knockout win over Brendan Schaub to win Season 10 of "The Ultimate Fighter." After a second straight Knockout of the Night bonus for a 39-second stoppage of Stefan Struve in March 2010, Nelson has lost three of his last four fights and has faced a steady stream of criticism from UFC president Dana White over his weight. It's criticism that Nelson perhaps took to heart earlier this month, when he announced that if he got to 100,000 "likes" on his Facebook fan page, he would make the drop to 205 pounds. Nelson was 246 for his last fight. But he apparently will get a reprieve from making that drop for now thanks to the Silva fight booking.

At UFC 143 in February, Nelson lost a Fight of the Night unanimous decision to Fabricio Werdum that left him battered and bloodied – but unable to be finished. That erased the knockout win he had over Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic at UFC 137 last October that had him back in the win column after back-to-back losses to dos Santos and Frank Mir.

Along with the main event heavyweight title fight, UFC 146 features a heavyweight top contenders bout between former champs Mir and Cain Velasquez, a middleweight bout between Jason "Mayhem" Miller and C.B. Dollaway; a welterweight bout between Dan Hardy and Duane Ludwig; lightweight fights between Paul Sass and Jacob Volkmann and Edson Barboza and Evan Dunham; and a heavyweight bout between Gabriel Gonzaga and Shane del Rosario.

Mar 6, 2012 - After months of speculation, Junior dos Santos' first title defense has finally been made official. The UFC's newest heavyweight champion will meet former Strikeforce, DREAM, and K-1 beltholder Alistair Overeem at the main event of UFC 146, slated for May 26 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
UFC officials confirmed the booking on Tuesday. Tickets for are expected to go on sale later this month.
The heavyweight title fight joins a card already highlighted by the return of known UFC commodities Edson Barboza, Dan Hardy, Diego Brandao, and Jason "Mayhem" Miller.

Dos Santos (14-1) last appeared in the main event of November's UFC on FOX debut, where he soundly defeated Cain Velasquez in just 64 seconds to earn "Knockout of the Night" honors and the UFC heavyweight strap. His victory marked the culmination of a stunning nine fight win streak, eight of which took place under the UFC umbrella and six of which ended in the first round. Throughout that time the 27-year-old dos Santos defeated a who's who of the heavyweight division, including Fabricio Werdum, Stefan Struve, Mirko Cro Cop, Roy Nelson, and Shane Carwin.
Likewise, Overeem (36-11, 1 NC) carries his own 12-fight unbeaten streak into the headlining tilt after collecting championships in nearly every other major MMA promotion, often in violent fashion. Before joining the UFC ranks, the 31-year-old Dutch striker ripped through an impressive run in which he finished eight of nine fights within four minutes against the likes of Mark Hunt, Gary Goodridge, Brett Rogers, and Todd Duffee.

After dropping out of the Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix due to lingering injuries, Overeem made his long-awaited UFC debut against Brock Lesnar last December, needing just two-and-a-half minutes to floor the former champion with a devastating liver kick.

even hardcore women love to wear bruce lee's grapplinggloves

(Getty)Ronda Rousey backed up her months of smack talk, submitting Miesha Tate to win the Strikeforce bantamweight championship in Columbus, Ohio, on Saturday night. Though this fight went longer than any of Rousey's other matches, which were all finished in less than a minute, she still didn't need more than one round.
Miesha Tate came out swinging, but Rousey got her down to the ground. She moved to side position, got the armbar and stretched it into an ugly position. Somehow, Tate got out and took Rousey's back. Rousey got out and stood up.
Moments later, she used her judo skills to hip toss Tate to the ground and moved into mount position. Tate flipped over, giving up her back. Rousey grabbed Tate's arm, stretched it out, and forced Tate to tap at 4:27 in the first round. With that, Rousey became the Strikeforce's women's bantamweight champ.
"She was much more savvy on the ground than I anticipated. She's good, and she's legit, but I don't feel that bad about [the injury]," Rousey said after the fight. It appeared Tate's arm was injured from the armbar.

Bad blood started between the two women when Rousey pushed for a title shot against Tate, who did not feel Rousey had earned a shot. The disdain between the two grew as they promoted their title fight. They squabbled during an interview with Cagewriter and threw a number of other barbs in various outlets. The animosity turned physical during Friday's weigh-ins. Tate pushed her forehead against Rousey's during their face-off, and Rousey used her head to push Tate back.
An Olympic bronze-medalist in judo, Rousey has submission skills that no one has been able to solve yet. In five fights, she has submitted all five of her opponents with an armbar.
Earlier in the evening, former champ Sarah Kaufman won a bloody brawl against Alexis Davis. She wants the next shot at Rousey, and Rousey said she wanted the fight.
"I would welcome it for sure," Rousey said. "I was impressed with her performance."
